La Torche PWA

10/29/2016

I just came back from the fourth and last event (for me) of the PWA wave season in La Torche.

This was my second time in Brittany, last year we were in Crozon Morgat for the PWA, but I must say the location this year has impressed me more.  The competition area was in the middle of a natural reserve and the landscapes, the beaches, the view were amazing.

The first days the waves were pumping, I rented a surfboard and enjoyed surfing with all the girls!  Although the water and the weather were pretty cold, we stayed in the water almost all the day long,  after some coffee and crepes break. That was the routine of this week: coffee, coffee, more coffee, surfing, crepes and wine at night! Not bad :)

The wind forecast before the event looked pretty optimistic, but unfortunatly the most windy day we had was way too light to run the competition. The trials heats were actually started with 35 minutes heat duration, for a moment we were pretty nervous and started to rig and prepare the gear, but finally even the trails heats got cancelled. The boys put anyway a good show even in super difficult conditions.

The event has been special for all the people coming by even if there was no wind, you could really feel the passion for windsurfing between the french people. Lots of passionates and young children coming by to get autographs, meet the riders, really nice to see this.

Now I am back in Barcelona, (found out that I took the last flight from Brest to Barcelona of the year, super nice check in with Vueling) and will stay here one and half month more or less, watching the Aloha Classic and training for the next travel!

Thanks to the pwagirls for such a great time together!
